Alamogordo Museum of History Originally the Tularosa Basin Museum of History, the current Alamogordo Museum of History offers various historical displays that include pieces of art that depict the history of the town and the greater Tularosa Basin. Exhibits cover times both ancient and modern, one of the most interesting of which is the 47-star American flag, which was never official due to the practice of updating the flag in January of the year following a state’s admission. In 1912, two states, New Mexico and Arizona were added, separated by only about a month, so the official flag was updated the following year from 46 to 48 stars.
